Most people who are familiar with CLEP exams know that one of the primary benefits they offer is money savings. But most don’t realize just how much money the CLEP program has saved students. The CLEP testing program has been in existence since 1967, and since that time, over 6 million CLEP exams have been taken by students worldwide. While most CLEP exams are 3 credits each, several of them are 6 credit exams, and a high score on a language exam could earn you 12 credits. The average pass rate for a CLEP is 35%, based on a military report on CLEP testing. If you put all these numbers together, you find that approximately 8.4 million credits have been earned through CLEP testing. While it is hard to pin down an exact average of the cost per credit hour, $200 per credit seems to be a conservative estimate. Based on all the above numbers, the savings that the CLEP program has given to students is around $1.5 trillion dollars. Obviously, that number is not a scientifically derived, but CLEP exams have saved an almost incomprehensible amount of money for students. It’s easy to take advantage of some of those savings in your own degree. More information on how you can take advantage of CLEPs can be found here: http://www.speedyprep.com/about_clep.aspx |
