The Cambridge varsity is the 2nd erstwhile varsity in Britain and 4th erstwhile in Europe. In short, this varsity is sometime called as Cantab which has been derived from Cantabrigiensis.

The Cambridge varsity grew out of an affiliation of students in Cambridge that has been formed in 1209 by the students departing from Oxford after a conflict with the peoples of that town. The Cambridge and the Oxford have many lineaments and hence, often collectively called as Oxbridge.

In the academic field, Cambridge is constantly being counted among the leading 5 varsities in the entire world. However it is a leading varsity in Europe.
